Intro to Allied Health Careers

Description

There are a lot of opportunities in the Health Industry, and Intro to Health Careers will give you a good overview of the possibilities. Topics will include career foundations, career pathways, ethics, and safety. Whether you’re interested in becoming a health aide in your village, dental hygienist, nurse, EMT, or doctor, this course will give you a good idea of whether to pursue your interests further. This will be an intensive course, and students should come prepared for a fast-paced week. Students who successfully complete this course will be given points on a future application for Professionalism in Health Careers, a course that will be offered at University of Alaska Anchorage in the late spring or early summer 2024.
Intro to Health Careers is intended for students with limited experience in the health field. Students will earn several certifications, including American Heart Association’s Heartsaver CPR AED for Adults, Children & Infants and American Heart Association’s First Aid.
