Intro to Education Careers with EdRising: Educators Rising Alaska is a diverse, teacher and student-led grassroots movement that aims to inspire high school and college students to serve their communities by entering the field of education. School-based chapters are located in every U.S. state, where students practice the necessary skills to lead a classroom while adding student voice to State and National competitions. We have had several students from our region qualify and place at the National level!! This class will help introduce you to and prepare for these competitions.
Intro Early Education: The BBRCTE Early Childhood Education Program is designed to teach students the aspects of teaching and working with young children, from birth through elementary age. This program will also allow students to begin working towards their CDA/CDA Alternative in order to be certified to run/work in childcare facilities.
Young Educators- Building Culturally Responsive Relationships: This course is a beginner course for high school students interested in an Education field. It introduces them to culturally responsive education. It supports cultural identity, relationship building, community connections and various resources for educators. Students will participate in classroom observations and participation for up to 2-3 hours a day during the intensive class. Students will learn about the Alaska Teacher Standards established by the Alaska State Department of Education and Early Childhood and the Alaska Standards for Culturally Responsive Schools, Cultural Standards for Educators, and the Guidelines for Preparing Culturally Responsive Teachers for Alaska’s Schools.
Education Internship: Students will work with BBRCTE’s Internship Development Program Manager to be placed in an internship in the education field. More info to come!
