Course Description: Introduction to Outboard Systems (ITOS) provides a fundamental understanding of the outboard systems, their  applications and usage. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have the opportunity to earn Yamaha’s  ‘Introduction to Outboard Systems (ITOS)’ certificate. This certificate is a pre-requisite for the Yamaha’s  Maintenance Certificate Program (MCP). This BBRCTE version of ITOS includes hands-on laboratory work in addition to the lectures and online material.

Course Description: This introductory course is designed to teach students the basics of shop orientation, safety, and Stick (SMAW) welding of low carbon steel. This course focuses on the maintenance and construction of commercial fishing vessels and supporting infrastructure in the Bristol Bay fishery. Additionally, time will be taken to discuss career exploration, welding history and fabrication techniques.

Course Description: Discover how maps can tell powerful stories! In this hands-on course, you’ll combine local knowledge with cutting-edge mapping tools (like GIS and GPS) to explore real-world issues such as climate change, urban planning, and environmental stewardship. Geospatial tools and education can provide communities, tribes, and individuals with opportunities to monitor environmental variables, establish baseline understandings of environments, predict future changes, and develop plans for climate change adaptation and mitigation. This class explores broad geospatial concepts that can be applied globally by focusing on issues directly related to climate and environmental change in rural Alaskan communities and is rooted in regional place-based knowledge. Students will learn to collect field and online information, analyze data and create maps in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, and communicate findings through geospatial tools.

Along the way you will discover what it takes to be a successful healthcare professional, from teamwork and communication to technical skills. This course will expose you to countless well-paid careers and prepare you for employment in one of the largest, and highest demand sectors of the Alaskan economy.

Course Description: This comprehensive electrical training program combines distance learning with strategic in-person intensive sessions, culminating in IBEW pre-apprentice opportunities. The program is designed to provide students with foundational electrical knowledge through remote instruction while ensuring hands-on experience through three critical in-person weeks.

Certification: IBEW 40 hour Direct Entry

Progression:

  • Intensive Week 2 (October 20-24th): Foundation Skills Integration
    • Must finish the first four modules of The Interim Credentials class. 
  • Intensive Week 3 (March 16-20): IBEW Industry Exposure
  • Intensive week 4 (April 27- May 1st): IBEW Certification Preparation

Together, we’ll dive into hands-on projects—storytelling, music, visual arts, and more—that show how identity and place can shape the way we teach and learn.

Along the way, you’ll practice what real educators do: designing activities, leading classmates, and blending cultural traditions with fresh, innovative ideas. The goal? To help you discover your voice as a future educator while building skills that connect you to your community and region. After our intensive week, you’ll continue creating projects that will prepare you to inspire the next generation of learners right here at home.

Progression: Course is part of Tier 1 Education Teacher Apprenticeship. Priority goes to 16+ due to internship/apprenticeship requirements. Opportunity to have a paid internship in Spring 2026.
