Sparks will fly- in the best way. In Welding, you’ll get hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment to cut, fuse, and shape metal like a pro. Learn the science behind welding techniques, safety practices, and the skills needed for careers in construction, fabrication, and beyond. If you’re ready to work hard, get gritty, and master a trade that’s always in demand, this is the pathway for you.
Introduction to Welding Careers & Processes: This introductory course is designed to teach students the basics of shop orientation, safety, and Stick (SMAW) welding of low carbon steel. This course focuses on the maintenance and construction of commercial fishing vessels and supporting infrastructure in the Bristol Bay fishery. Additionally, time will be taken to discuss career exploration, welding history and fabrication techniques.
Welding 2: In this course, students will get the opportunity to build on the fundamentals of working with Aluminum, gaining skills that could benefit them and their communities.
Welding 3: This course will help students expand on the welding skills they obtained in Welding I & Welding II. This hands-on course will teach the fundamentals of working with Aluminum. This is a prerequisite for the Aluminum Skiff Build Program.
Intro to Aluminum Fabrication: Students will focus on building skills for aluminum welding and fabrication and all student participants in this program will learn how to build an aluminum meat trailer. This course will focus more on measuring, cutting, shaping, and welding aluminum at unique angles. Pre-req: BBRCTE Welding I & II or Ironworkers Certification Training or any BBRCTE Skiff Build Course or other welding experience (please detail on application).
Aluminum Fabrication: Students will focus on building skills for aluminum welding and fabrication and all student participants in this program will learn how to build an aluminum meat trailer. This course will focus more on measuring, cutting, shaping, and welding aluminum at unique angles. Pre-req: Students who have completed Welding I.
Skiff Build 1: Students will be focused on building a 20’ aluminum skiff in this course. Students will be learning about basic design and layup and also working together as a team.
Skiff Build 2: This course is a continuation of Skiff Build I. Students will be focused on building a 20’ aluminum skiff in this course. Students will be learning about basic design and layup and also working together as a team on this exciting project.
Skiff Build 3: Students will be completing a 20’ aluminum skiff. This course will be putting together a number of the pieces and concepts from the past two years of welding coursework. Prepare for long days with lots of hands on welding work to complete the skiff together as a team!
